You know that voice in your head? The one that sounds so convincing, so motivational… and lies worse than every ex combined. “I’ll start tomorrow” is a professional con artist. It has been operating for thousands of years and still hasn’t been caught.
It promises you that tomorrow you’ll finally begin exercising, stop eating junk after 6 p.m., read books instead of scrolling TikTok, learn a new language, launch a side business, organize your closet, or start writing a journal. Then tomorrow arrives, immediately hands the baton to the next “tomorrow,” and the cycle quietly continues.
Why is it such a skilled liar? Because it sounds reasonable. “Tomorrow” feels like a clean new beginning. Today you’re tired, today is Monday, today there’s a birthday, today it’s raining… but tomorrow will be the perfect day. Only tomorrow never actually comes. It always turns into today, and the loop repeats.
“I’ll start tomorrow” is the king of excuses. It gives us a false sense of control, as if we’ve already done something simply by postponing the task. In reality, we’re just buying time with lies.
The truth is simple and a little cruel: the most dangerous time to start anything is “tomorrow.” The best time is “now” — even if it’s only for five minutes. Every great person who ever achieved something began on some ordinary “today,” never on a “tomorrow.”
So… are you still listening to the biggest liar in the world?
